Anewrin Philip George 7-A my score in degrees of comparison is 7 but I have a doubt MRS you gave us in the note book that we can write far - farther- farthest then I asked a doubt to mrs that we can write far-further-furtherest so when I wrote farther(comparitive) they are saying that it is wrong when I clicked SHOW ANSWERS they are showing that further is correct
far (place + time) further furthest far (place) farther farthest
Farther refers to length or distance. It is the comparative form of the word far when referring to distance.
Further means "to a greater degree," "additional," or "additionally." It refers to time or amount. It is the comparative form of the word far when meaning "much."
Correct: London is farther north than Juneau. (Refers to distance)
Correct: This plan requires further study. (Meaning "additional study," refers to amount)
Correct: According to my timetable, we should be further along. (Refers to time)
see the usage mentioned above, answers vary according to the question asked.
